SMART Recovery at SWOP NSW is a peer-led program that supports sex workers who want to make changes around alcohol, drug use, or other behaviours. At SWOP, meetings are run by staff with lived experience, creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly with peers who understand.
The program is practical and goal-focused. It helps you decide what changes you’d like to make and gives you tools and strategies you can use straight away in your daily life. Maybe you find it hard to say no when a client wants to party, maybe recovery days eat into your week, or maybe you’d just like to cut back but struggle to pace yourself. Small shifts can make a big difference in how you feel, focus, and keep your hustle strong.
In meetings, you’ll connect with other workers who get it. Together we share strategies for setting boundaries, staying in control, and keeping our time, health, and work on track. You choose the changes you want to make, abstinence isn’t required.
SMART Recovery at SWOP is about peer connection as much as personal growth. It’s a supportive space to learn, share, and build skills for health and wellbeing in a way that fits your life and your work.
Meetings run weekly from 3:00–4:30pm at the SWOP NSW office — on the first Thursday of the month, then every following Wednesday. You can also join online. Registrations are essential.
